मौद्रिक अर्थशास्त्र

मौद्रिक अर्थशास्त्र अथवा मुद्रा अर्थशास्त्र (monetary economics) अर्थशास्त्र की वो शाखा है जिसमें धन से सम्बंधित सिद्धान्तों का अध्ययन किया जाता है। इससे धन का विश्लेषण करने के लिए रूपरेखा प्राप्त होती है। इसमें धन का विनियम के माध्यम और मुद्रा का मूल्य जैसे कार्य शामिल हैं। इसमें मुद्रा को सार्वजनिक वस्तु के रूप में स्वीकृति मिलती है। इस शाखा ने ऐतिहासिक रूप से पूर्व से स्थापित अवधारणाओं को स्थापित रखते हुये समष्टि अर्थशास्त्र से भी जुड़ी रही। यह शाखा मौद्रिक प्रणालियों के प्रभावों की जाँच भी करती है जिसमें धन अथवा सम्बंधित वित्तीय संस्थानों के विनिमय एवं अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पहलू शामिल हैं। आधुनिक विश्लेषण ने धन की मांग के लिए सूक्ष्म आधार प्रदान करने का प्रयास किया है और सूक्ष्म या स्थूल उपयोगों के लिए वैध वास्तविक और नामिक मूल्य मौद्रिक संबंधों को अलग करने का प्रयास किया है जिसमें संकलित मांग पर उनका प्रभाव भी शामिल है।• Robert Clower, 1967.
