411 NEWSROOM
Sources, standards & corrections
Source-first reporting
Each published story links to its original reporting or official document and records the source publication date. A press release describes the issuing organisation’s statement; it is not independent verification. One report is not presented as confirmation by multiple sources.
AI-assisted drafts
Automation discovers accessible feeds and sitemap entries, identifies duplicates and assists with short original drafts. Imported drafts stay out of public feeds until newsroom approval. Reviewers check names, dates, figures, context and attribution against the original evidence. Uncertain information remains explicitly uncertain.
Images with documented rights
We use images only when their creator, source page and reusable license are recorded. Illustrative photographs are labelled. A branded graphic appears when there is no suitable licensed image; it is not a photograph of the event.
Corrections and updates
Use “Report an error” on a story to send a factual concern to the newsroom. Material changes must include a visible correction or update record. Changes preserve the original publication time and show the updated time.
Newsroom
411 Newsroom is the desk byline for collaboratively prepared source-based briefs. Individual reporters may use their own byline. The source note explains the reporting basis for each article.
