7 अप्रैल 2019 live जनवरी २०१९ में, मायावती (बसपा अध्यक्ष) और अखिलेश यादव (सपा अध्यक्ष) ने उत्तर प्रदेश में ८० में से ७८ सीटों पर चुनाव लड़ने के लिए गठबंधन (महागठबंधन) की घोषणा की और उन्होंने दो सीटें, अमेठी और रायबरेली, कांग्रेस के लिए और दो सीटें छोड़ दीं। मायावती ने यह कहते हुए गठबंधन में कांग्रेस को शामिल नहीं किया, "गठबंधन में कांग्रेस को शामिल करने से सपा-बसपा को नुकसान होगा क्योंकि कांग्रेस केवल ५२ सीटों पर ही विजयी हो पायी। इस बार भी उसे नेता प्रतिपक्ष का पद नहीं मिल सका। कांग्रेस के नौ पूर्व मुख्यमंत्रियों समेत ज्योतिरादित्य सिंधिया जैसे कई दिग्गजों को हार का सामना करना पड़ा। प्रियंका
