पुरु लोग

पुरु बृहत भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप के पश्चिमोत्तर भाग में बसने वाले आर्य समुदाय का एक क़बीला या क़बीलाई परिसंघ था। ऋग्वेद ७:९६:२ में वे सरस्वती नदी के किनारे बसे हुए बताए जाते हैं। इनमें आपस में कई गुट थे, जिनमें से एक भारत नामक समुदाय था। ऋग्वेद के सातवे मंडल में पुरुओं द्वारा कई अन्य क़बीलों का मित्रपक्ष बनाकर दस राजाओं के युद्ध (दशराज्ञ युद्ध) में भारत क़बीले के राजा सुदास से हुई जंग का वर्णन है। इसमें पुरु हार गए और भारत विजयी रहे।Indian History, Krishna Reddy, pp. 1-103, Tata McGraw-Hill Education, 2006, ISBN 9780070635777, ...
