संरचना जीनोमिक्स

अंग्रेज़ी में इसे स्ट्रक्चरल जीनोमिक्स कहते हैं। जीनोम अनुक्रमण परियोजनाओं की सफलता तथा प्रोटीन संरचनाओं को सुलझाने के अनेक प्रयासों ने संरचना जैव वैज्ञानिकों को संरचना जीनोमिक्स के विकास के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया है। यह क्षेत्र भी विस्तृत रूप से विकसित हो गया है, जिसके अन्तर्गत मानव के सभी प्रोटीनों की संरचना की गुत्थी सुलझाने का प्रयोजन है। प्रोटीन ही हर जीव की संरचना करते हैं। केवल यही नहीं, पाचन रोग अवरोधन, शारिरिक रासायनिक्जैसी सभी गतिविधियों का निर्धारण भी करते हैं। संक्षेप में हर प्राणी का प्राण प्रोटीन ही है। यही प्रोटीन किसी गलत तरीके से वलित हो या उसके कुछ अंश लुप्त हों तो रोगोत्पत्ति की संभावना रहती है। इसको जानने के लिए प्रोटीन संरचना का ज्ञान होना आवश्यक है। सन्दर्भ The impact of structural genomics: Expectations and Outcomes.
