Life Histories of North American Gallinaceous Birds, New York: Dover Publications, Inc. अन्य नाम इस पक्षी को म्यान्मार की पेगु भाषा में ह्का और सिआम की भाषा में नौक-काता कहते हैं। आवास का क्षेत्र यह पक्षी कम्बोडिया, चीन, भारत, हॉन्ग कॉन्ग, लाओस, म्यान्मार, थाईलैण्ड और वियतनाम में पाया जाता है। आवास यह सूखे उष्णकटिबंधीय वनों में ज़्यादातर पाया जाता है लेकिन इसे नमी वाले वनों में भी देखा जा सकता है। इसकी लंबाई लगभग ३० से ३४ से.मी. और वज़न लगभग २८० से ४०० ग्राम होता है।Hume A.O.
