इसलिये के-४ का विकास शुरु किया गया जिसे अग्नि-३ जैसी क्षमताओं के साथ ही अरिहंत में फिट होने जैसा बनाया गया। इसकी लम्बाई मात्र १२ मीटर है। के-४ के गैस प्रक्षेपक का २०१० में एक पंटून (छोटी पनडुब्बी) से
