In dieser Weise ist alles in mir verstreut, – die Zimmer, die Treppen, die mit so großer Umständlichkeit sich niederließen, und andere kleine rundgebaute Stiegen, in deren Dunkel man ging wie das Blut in den Adern; die Turmzimmer, die hoch aufgehängten Balkone, die unerwarteten Altane, auf die man von einer kleinen Tür hinausgedrängt wurde, – alles das, ist noch in mir und wird nie auf hören, in mir zu sein.
Usage notes
The plural de Balkone is always pronounced /balˈkoːnə/ and /balˈkoːnɛ/ respectively. Accordingly, only this plural is used by speakers who say /balˈkoːn/ in the singular. Other speakers sometimes switch to the same pronunciation in the plural. Otherwise they use the plural de Balkons (pronounced like the respective singular form + /s/).
