Etymology
Dialectal variant of expected de Raum (early modern German, rare), from de gmh roum, from de goh roum, from de gmw-pro *raum, from de gem-pro *raumaz.
The form de Rahm ousted the regular form due to homonymy with de Raum room, from gmh rūm. Dialects that have developed Middle High German -ou- into -ā- are found in south-eastern and central-western Germany. Cognate with nl room and en ream.
