From a pre-Indo-European en qfa-sub - word und *murr- hill.
From a pre-Roman word und *murrēna snout, protruding peak, likely related to la-vul *murrum.
Related to gsw Mūr wall (from en la murus), although the doubling of the r in the name would be difficult to explain.
