burde
German
de:
Etymology
de ine-pro *bʰer-
From a merger of de gmh bürde and gmh bürden, respectively from de goh burdī and goh burdin, from de gmw-pro *burþī and gmw-pro *burþini, which last is also the source of en burden. The two forms were bound to merge because all gmh - feminines in gmh -en yield modern de -e (cf. de Kette etc. and see de Lüge for a similar merger).
