pt - 1944 by adding pt tpw una<t:black> 1 to the former Jaguari district. The resulting compound in Old Tupi would literally mean “black river of jaguars” (tpw îagûaryúna) — however, the intended final meaning was “river of black jaguars”. For this, one would need to change the word order (tpw îagûarundy), resulting in pt *Jaguarundi.pt DTA 579 2pt Navarro:2020 264
