Etymology
From the oblique cases of enm ang Denemearc; compare enm Dene lawe and enm Denelond.
Especially in Northern Middle English, the first element is sometimes remodelled on enm Dane Dane, possibly due to the influence of non Danmǫrk (however, the East Saxon form enm Danmark reflects the local development of ang Denemearc). Contrastingly, the second element is rebuilt on enm marche in Southern Middle English, perhaps on the model of fro Danemarche, fro Denemarche.
