German
de:Hederich
Etymology
From de gmh hederich, from de goh hederih wild radish, wild mustard 11th c.. Cognate with nl herik he(de)rik wild mustard. Probably from de la hederāceus ivy-like, though this would imply that it originally referred to some other kind of plant. According to the Deutsches Wörterbuch, it may mean “ground-ivy” in parts of northern Germany. As indicated, the goh - attestations already have the modern sense.
