Traveller Norwegian Etymology Probably short for Panian-temm for Romsdal, known from only one source, which may litterally mean "watery land" (compare rmg jelmen-temmans highlands), from rmg pani water. This name makes sense if it originated among those Travellers who lived in Trondheim area: the closest coastal disctricts were Fosen (which covered all the coast of Sør-Trøndelag) and Romsdal (with Nordmøre as part of it). Romsdal disctrict had two cities (Molde and Christianssund), while Fosen district had none, what can explain why Romsdal got its own name.
