(Overijssel) First attested as prioris Montis sancti Nycolai in dauantria in 1290. Compound of nl berg hill, elevated place and nl kwartier quarter, neighbourhood. Named after a sand dune which was the site of a church dedicated to Saint Nicholas.
(Utrecht) Compound of nl berg hill, elevated place and nl kwartier quarter, neighbourhood. The neighbourhood was named after a nearby hill, the Amersfoortse Berg.
