Turkish
Etymology
From tr ady Джанболэт. Although it is a Turkic origin name, this specific usage is unique to Circassians and came to Turkey from Circassia. The name was altered to sound Turkish (resembling the Turkish words can and polat) in order to avoid Kemalist bans on non-Turkish names and to make it easier to pronounce. Popularised among ethnic Turks following the rise of cult TV series "Kurtlar Vadisi".
Proper noun
tr male West Circassian, popular among Circassians in Turkey.
