Etymology
The adjective cs klášterní Klášterní is derived from cs klášter monastery.
The name cs Hradisko is from cs hradisko fortified settlement, which probably lay near the place already before the monastery was founded.Konečný, Lubomír (1985). "Glosy k olomouckým otázkám". Archæologia historica. 86 (11): 106. Alternative theory suggests that the monastery started to be called this way because of the way in which it had been built.Bistřický, Jan (1985). "Na okraji glos k olomouckým otázkám". Archæologia historica. 86 (11): 114.
The first evidence of the name is from 1126 when it was mentioned in a la - text as la Gradisch, which seems to be derived from a predecessor of the cs - cs hradiště fortified settlement.Lutterer, Ivan; Majtán, Milan; Šrámek, Rudolf (1982). "Olomouc". Zeměpisná jména Československa. Praha: Mladá fronta. Pages 221–222.Hosák, Ladislav; Šrámek, Rudolf (1970). "Olomouc". Místní jména na Moravě a ve Slezsku, vol. I. Praha: Československá akademie věd. Pages 173–178. Written evidence of the Czech name comes e. g. from 1515, when it was written as cs Hradisscze, later in 1526 it was spelled as cs Hradistie and in 1599 cs Hradisstie,Hosák, Ladislav; Šrámek, Rudolf (1970). "Olomouc". Místní jména na Moravě a ve Slezsku, vol. I. Praha: Československá akademie věd. Pages 173–178. all the forms corresponding to the modern spelling of the term for the fortified settlement cs hradiště. Later forms with central Moravia Moravian dialect ending cs -isko started appearing, such as cs Gradisko in 1633, and finally prevailed.Lutterer, Ivan; Majtán, Milan; Šrámek, Rudolf (1982). "Olomouc". Zeměpisná jména Československa. Praha: Mladá fronta. Pages 221–222.
