Turkish
Etymology
From West Circassian tr ady Сэфэрбий (Seferbiy). Historically associated with prominent figures such as Seferbiy Zaneqo (Zanoko Seferbey), Circassian diplomat and military leader during the Russo-Circassian War. It is composed of originally Arabic and Turkic elements (Arabic ar صَفَر Safar and the Turkic title trk-pro *bēg bey, chief) that were adopted into Circassian nobility, but this specific naming usage came to Turkey via the Circassian diaspora. The spelling was adapted to standard Turkish phonology.
Proper noun
