German
Etymology
From Ripuarian and Low Franconian gmw-cfr Schrott scrap, which is the same word as German de Schrot groats. The regional form is not, however, derived from gmh schrōt, but from a variant de gmh schrāt, de dum *scraet (compare attested dum scrāden, an eastern variant of dum scrōden, whence modern nl schrooien).
