Suffix
ko -겠- confirmative suffix obsolete southern dialectal
ko ko [雉](치)[岳](악)[山](산) 1908 ko:이인직 I 32 ᄀᆡ화-ᄒᆞᆫ 아들 잇-것-다 ᄀᆡ화-ᄒᆞᆫ 며누리 잇-것-다 집-이 잘 되지 망-ᄒᆞᆯ 리-가 있소 We do have a Westernized son, we do have a Westernized daughter-in-law; of course our family will do well, how on earth could it go to ruin? ᄀᆡ/개,ᄒᆞᆫ/한,ᄒᆞᆯ/할
Usage notes
The dialectal word is now usually written ko -겄-, which is also an etymologically separate suffix marking the future. Since the confirmative suffix in question always occurs before ko -다, it cannot be discerned whether this is true on a phonological level or simply orthographic conflation of the two suffixes.
