Dutch
Etymology
First attested as in thrimnithi in 850. Etymology uncertain. Potentially a derivation from gem-pro *þirmina- terminus, extreme point with collectivising suffix gem-pro *iþja-. A proposed derivation from gem-pro *þrum- piece of land, terminus with collectivising suffix gem-pro *iþi- is impossible because of the presence of -mn- in the oldest attestations. Compare nl Drempt, nl Dreumel and nl Drimmelen. Formerly an independent village.
