Etymology
en enm kayser, from en goh keisar emperor, from en gmw-pro *kaisar, from en gem-pro *kaisaraz, from en la Caesar. The native Old English descendant of that Proto-Germanic word was ang cāser emperor, but the shape of Middle English enm kayser emperor (versus the expected en *caser, en *coser) suggests it was borrowed from another Germanic language rather than inherited, and the modern English spelling and sense seem to be modified after modern German rather than a direct continuation of Middle English.caiser n MED6477 Compare en tsar 1, which was borrowed from Slavic.
en Caesar tsar.
