beere bẹẹrẹ bɛɛre bɛɛrɛ

Proper noun
en.
German
Etymology
From de gmh ber, bere n (sometimes f), from de goh beri n, from de gem-pro *bazją n. Cognate with en berry and eventually nl bes.
Chiefly in Upper German, the final vowel was lost through early apocope after short vowel + single sonorant. The gmh -e was maintained in the north, however, where it led to a shift to the feminine gender (compare de gml bēre f), facilitated by the predominant use in the plural.
