de:,Kreis Olpe
Etymology
From de osx Drōguleshagan. The second element is the common placename suffix goh -hagen, formed from goh hagan hedge, enclosure. The first element is uncertain, but possibly formed as a personal name in the genitive: goh Drogiles > goh Drols-. The early form osx Droileshageno points to something like osx Drogiles osx hagan the enclosure of Drogilo, with osx -ilo a regular Germanic hypocoristic (compare the common Frankish name Drogo, itself possibly related to gem-pro *dreuganą).https://web.archive.org/web/20081024141923/http://www.drolshagen.de/standard/page.sys/69.htm
