Etymology
Refers to the district of Gazipur, a transliteration of গাজীপুর, ultimately a bilingual compound of en ar غَازِي warrior, ghazi construct state of ar غَازِ + Bengali sa पुर পুর city, named in honor of Fazl Gazi, one of the Baro Bhuyans of Bengal and the first zamindar of Bhawal Estate.
