Etymology
From the lb de - plural de Strumpf Strümpfe or rather a lb gmw-rfr - equivalent thereof. Eventually from lb gmh strumpf, from lb gem-pro *strumpaz. The form entered Luxembourgish and the surrounding dialects during the 18th or 19th centuries, widely replacing native lb Hues.
