Jed Clampett

English Etymology From the character Jed Clampett from the television show Beverly Hillbillies. Noun A low-class, trashy nouveau riche person who may be naive and is often a hillbilly or otherwise rural. en Zayed may not have been the "Jed Clampett of the Middle East," as Americans staying at some of his new four-star hotels used to joke. But he was a financial ingenue with a newly minted horde of money, a horde that got much, much bigger after the Arab oil em-bargo. He was like Jed Clampett in that he went immediately for the big house in Beverly Hills and the swimming pool, and that he was simply not aware that most of the people who showed up on his doorstep were fortune seekers, and quite often dishonest fortune seek-ers. https://www.google.com/books/edition/The_Outlaw_Bank/M_vkgRD3QwwC?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=%22the+jed+clampett+of%22&pg=PA138&printsec=frontcover Beard Books The Outlaw Bank: A Wild Ride Into the Secret Heart of BCCI Jonathan Beaty, S.
