Etymology
fi ota burr, thorn niemi peninsula. However, this is likely a folk-etymological alteration of the Swedish name sv Otnäs, which may actually derive from an original Finnish name fi *Hautaniemi (sv *Houtnäs > sv *Outnäs > sv Otnäs), from fi hauta grave + fi niemi, and there is indeed a barrow (burial mound) in the area.
