M. africanus is now classified as Paranthropus robustus species or Australopithecus robustus species. Meganthropus palaeojavanicus species is now classified as Homo erectus palaeojavanicus subspecies, Homo palaeojavanicus species, or Australopithecus palaeojavanicus species. The classification of palaeojavanicus is under debate, while that of africanus is clear and dependent on whether Paranthropus genus is a separate genus or is not and therefore part of Australopithecus genus.
