imker
German
Etymology
From de nds-de Imker. Obviously related to de Imme bee. There are two theories concerning the details of the development:
From de gml immenkar beehive, which is a compound with Middle Low German gml kar basket. The component -ker < -kar would then have been secondarily associated with the Low German suffix nds-de -ker for occupations (compare de Böttcher).
Directly derived from Imme with the mentioned suffix. Cognate with nl imker.
Either way, ultimately from de gmw-pro *imbjakaʀjō.
