Etymology 1
From de gmh huoste, from de goh huosto, from de gmw-pro *hwōstō, from de gem-pro *hwōstô.
Noun
m Hüsterchen
cough
Usage notes
The plural is extremely rare. It could only be used in the sense of “different kinds of cough” and (doubtfully) “different periods of illness involving cough”.
The diminutive is perhaps originally that of de Huster an instance of coughing, but it also substitutes the diminutive of de Husten, e.g. in the sense of “a slight affection by cough”.
