Etymology
One theory suggests a derivation from lv ru угри eels. An alternative theory, based on historical forms of the name (Wogene, Woga) posits a relationship to Finno-Ugric, e.g. et voog flow, stream, wave, from lv urj-fin-pro *voo, from lv urj-pro *uwa- to flow, possibly via lv liv.
