From gl la-med Ermeroti, a genitive form of the personal name la Ermerote, from a gl gem-sue - or gl got - personal name, from a compound of gl gem-pro *ermunaz whole and gem-pro *hrōþiz fame, glory.122 Toponyms with the same etymon include Ermelode, name of an uninhabited place in gl Moraña, gl Pontevedra; and gl Esmorode, a village in gl Santa Comba, gl A Coruña.
