no Orkelsjøen
Etymology
Continues an older lake name reconstructed as Old Norse non *Orkill or non *Orkull, formed from the river name non *Ork with the archaic lake-name suffix -ill or -ull. The present form includes nb sjøen the lake as an explanatory addition. Ultimately nb 1.
The underlying river name has traditionally been connected with non orka to work, labour, perhaps referring to a strong current, while an Old European origin has also been proposed; both interpretations are uncertain.
Compare nb Sperillen, from Old Norse non Sperðill, another old Norwegian lake name containing the suffix -ill.
