German
Etymology
children who want something get something on their thighs / buttocks.
Probably a de nds - 1. The anatomical use of de Bollen is especially Westphalian, where the phrase is attested in 1912 as nds Kinner, die wat wollen, kriegt wat op den Bollen (note that nds wollen is preterite in this case).Imme, Theodor: Flurnamenstudien auf dem Gebiete des alten Stifts Essen, in: Zeitschrift des Vereins für rheinische und westfälische Volkskunde, vol. 9 (1912), page 211. (Note a slightly different form already in F. Walter: Plattdeutsche Sprichwörter und sprichwörtliche Redensarten, Recklinghausen, 1896.) Otherwise it is also found in nds - with a rhyme on nds Bille (cf. nl bil), e.g. nds Kinner met ’n Willen kriegt wat up de Billen.
