Etymology
fi järvi saari. The name of the place in Ingria was probably originally fi Järvisalo (fi 1 järvi salo wilderness) and possibly referred to a dry part of land on a wetland, rather than an island surrounded by water. Perhaps it was originally a name for such a place near the village of fi Järvenkylä.Kepsu Saulo Inkerin pogostat – vanha nimistö ja asutus 2020 Kotimaisten kielten keskus Helsinki Kotimaisten kielten keskuksen verkkojulkaisuja 66 2323-3370 978-952-7359-02-0 https://www.kotus.fi/julkaisut/nimijulkaisut/inkerin_pogostat 256
