German
Etymology
From de nl broek swamp, meadow + nl huizen home. The name combines two of the specifically Dutch spellings found only in the area between Krefeld and Kleve, namely de -oe- for /uː/ and de -uy- for /yː/ (cf. de Boeckelt and de Schaephuysen respectively). Elsewhere in North-Rhine Westphalia -oe- represents /oː/ or /øː/ and we find -ui- for /yː/.
