Etymology
From lb gmh vlo vlō(ch), from lb goh flōh, from lb gem-pro *flauhaz. Cognate with de Floh, nl vlo, en flea, is fló. The feminine gender prevails also in Dutch and western German dialects; so there is no need to assume influence by fr puce.
