Usage notes
fr -ité does not generally attach to adjectives ending in fr -ais (e.g. fr mauvais, fr français, fr japonais). Instead, the corresponding noun is typically formed with fr -eté (e.g. fr mauvaiseté, fr françaiseté), or, when the adjective is demonymic, fr -ité may be attached to the underlying toponym rather than to the adjective (e.g. fr francité, fr japonité).
