Usage notes
Most dialects are locally referred to as gmw-cfr Platt, even as far south as Saarland. A remarkable exception is Colognian (gmw-cfr Kölsch), which is only rarely called gmw-cfr kölsch Platt. This might well be due to the historical attitude of the metropolitans, who considered themselves, and hence their speech, far superior to the outside population.
