akka Akka -äkkä
Finnish
Etymology
From fi -kka by re-extraction from a-stems.
Suffix
adjective äkkä
Forms some adjectives, primarily with a diminutive meaning.
fi uncommon 1 fi -kka
Usage notes
Attaches to the weak stem. Replaces the final vowel. With fi -ea adjectives, the entire ending fi -ea is replaced and the previous consonant is possibly (but not necessarily) weakened; this is because the fi -akka was not attached to the fi -ea stem, but the suffix was replaced wholesale. In free variation with fi -kka.
Declension
