Luxembourgish
Etymology
lb :inh gmh:gingebere<ety:der<la:gingiber>> 1
From lb gmh gingebere, from lb la gingiber. The Luxembourgish is probably based on a metathesised variant gmh *gigembere (compare attested fro gigimbre alongside fro gingembre, dum gigeberre, modern nl gember). By regular loss of intervocalic -g-, this would then have developed through gmh *gīmbere into the contemporary form.
