Etymology
fi fi -nen. Historically found around what is now Mikkeli, also more recently from northern Finland. Compare fi *nois kind of fur animal, from which fi Nokia. Alternatively perhaps derived from dialectal fi nojossa, fi nojollaan leaning, tilted (< fi noja), as a byname.
