Etymology
Possibly from a personal name, a possible reconstruction is given L. Kettunen to be *Lakjuksen, although further derivation is unclear. Likely not related to et laius width, or possible compounds et lai soo wide swamp, et lage soo clear. The small borough got its name after an administrative reform in 1977, from the name of the parish.
