Etymology
From de gmh urhan ûr-han, from de goh ūrhuon ūr-huon (variant of goh orrehuon orre-huon), from de gmw-pro *ūrʀahōn, from a compound of the de gem-pro - elements gem-pro *urzô black grouse ~ capercaillie *hōną hen 1 (see de Huhn), literally "grouse-hen", referring to the bird's call. The first element, which is cognate with sv orre and fo orri, is possibly from de ine-pro *wérsēn *wérsō virile, male; male livestock animal, bull calf. Cognate with nds-de Urhane and nl woerhaan (< gmw-pro *worʀahanō).
