Finnish
Etymology
fi suoden niemi peninsula. There are multiple theories regarding the origin of the initial component. It has been connected with fi suo swamp, bog (according to this theory, the genitive plural form is this dialect may have resembled fi suoden for standard fi soiden) and fi suoli, originally in reference to the lake fi Suodenjärvi likening its long and thin shape to that of an intestine (in this case, d for l would be a hypercorrection).
