Etymology
First attested as Drieborg in 1867. Compound of nl drie three and nl burg castle, house. The toponym likely originated as a mocking name for a house inhabited by three families or with three architectural features (chimneys, doors etc.). According to an alternative reading, the second element is nds-nl borg levee.
