Etymology
Unknown. Cf. Reconstruction:Proto-Slavic/suša + suffix -ova. According to historical folk etymology, derived from hu szűcs vár furrier fortress 1 (cf. hu Szűcsvár), however this is unlikely as the would it would have been rendered phonetically as Sucioara, and the river predates the name of the settlement.
