Dutch
Etymology
First attested as drihle in 1196. Etymology nl 1. Perhaps derived from nl odt *drila three-forked junction, in this case referring to an intersection of three rivers. A derivation from a compound of nl drie three and nl lo light forest on sandy soil has also been proposed. Compare nl Hoenzadriel, nl Kerkdriel and nl Velddriel.
